Frost DK vs. Fire Mage

[:1]So, I was hoping that someone would be able to offer some advice to help me with beating a Fire Mage in a duel. My GM recently came back to the game after deciding SWTOR sucked, and has been changing things around a lot. He recently demoted me from my officer status, of which I had held for several months, without provocation. Upon questioning him, he said it was a mistake but decided that the only way I could have it back was to beat him in a duel. I agreed and quickly learned that I have no idea on how to fight a Fire Mage.

Being immune to roots and snares presents a major issue, as those are the CCs I rely upon to stop targets and kill them. I was lucky if I managed to catch him at all.
Anyone got any tactics or advice to help me take him down?
AMS and pray that he lags out.

ams at the start before nova, pop damage trinket, spam howling blast and frost strike. Save trinket for dragons breath, if u get caught in a nova, deathgrip, dark sim copy his blink, and silence on cast for another 7 seconds of cc.

Firemages are really easy to beat : /
Hard to say, I've only ever fought one really skilled Fire Mage months ago and I haven't seen him ever again.

Every other Mage I've fought sucks. /shrug
Dark Simulacrum is your friend.

Open with AMS to avoid the opening Nova. Using Chains of Ice to keep him snared and spam Howling Blast. When Killing Machine procs, use Blood Tap to get the Death Rune to use Obliterate - it's infinitely stronger against clothies like Mages than Frost Strike is. (Frost Strike is for getting past armor value of heavy armor characters like Warriors). Spam Frost Strike when you have excess Runic Power or Death Coil if he's out of melee range.

Whenever you're closing the gap and don't have AMS up, use Dark Simulacrum, 90% of the time, he's going to use Dragon's Breath. Trinket out of it, hit him with your own copied Dragon's Breath. Lay into him with an Obliterate or Frost Strike.

Use Hungering Cold after he Cauterizes.
Well, i'm looking at your spec and I see a few issues. I dont see the need for Epidemic and Desecration as a Frost spec since we're constantly refreshing our diseases anyway, and Chillbains makes the need for Desecration moot. YOu could also probably ditch Pale Horse, unless you just like it for the BGs, but it's kinda a waste imo. NOw on the bright side, you have Lichborne, and there is a macro you can make (/tar self /cast death coil) so you can heal yourself while Lichborne is active since Death Coil heals friendly undead. Those points would likely be better served in Butchery and Bladed Armor (more rune power generation, and additional atk power), and top off Virulence. Other than that, just gotta work on timing and putting things in the right place for better effect. Good Luck.

you do realize a mage can just block your ams? aka inc death. you don't beat much of anything 1v1 as a frost dk OP. just the occasional priests.
